DENVER, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A former Colorado college athlete who pleaded guilty to faking cancer and duping donors out of more than $30,000 will spend 36 days in jail, documents show.

A La Plata County district judge Monday sentenced Tausha Marsh, 30, former model and volleyball player at Western State College, Gunnison, The Denver Post reported Wednesday.

In addition to jail time, Marsh was sentenced to four years' probation and ordered to undergo weekly counseling sessions and repay donors who contributed during a 2008 fundraising event.

The judge also ordered Marsh to perform 3,000 hours of community service over the next four years, give $9,000 to the American Cancer Society and send out handwritten apologies to each donor, the newspaper said.
