DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A self-styled Hindu guru says he bought a Dayton, Ohio, office building because of its good vibe and wants to see a bank and restaurant on the first floor.

The purchase of the KeyBank building on North Main Street for $525,000 in cash was the second real-estate acquisition in Dayton by Annamalai Annamalai, who recently lost his Georgia temple in bankruptcy, the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News said Sunday.

The newspaper said the guru's operations in Georgia derailed about a year ago amid a $2.3 million loan default and about 20 defamation lawsuits filed against the news media and former devotees.

Annamalai, 45, purchased an old flea market in June that will be converted into a temple once it completes a long purification process.

Annamalai told the Daily News he felt a positive energy in the bank building, which convinced him to make an offer after being inside for just 10 minutes.

Annamalai said he wanted to open a temple in the Midwest; however the Daily News said the purchases have raised eyebrows in the city's business community and at city hall.
