Minor injuries in Ohio auto plant blast     (Business News)
09/07/2010 01:24 P (EST)
TOLEDO, Ohio, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- An explosion at an automotive supplier plant for Chrysler in Ohio has injured nine people, none of them seriously, authorities said.

A hydraulic line at Faurecia Interior Systems Inc., in Northwood, Ohio, exploded early Tuesday, the Toledo Blade reported.

Nine workers were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with minor injuries, the newspaper said.

The names of the victims were not released.

Faurecia Interior Systems manufactures interior door panels for the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro vehicles made by Chrysler.

A Chrysler spokeswoman said the company's Toledo North Assembly Plant, where Libertys and Nitros are built, had enough parts on hand to keep operating.

Earlier they had thought the plant, employing 950 people, might have to shut down because of a parts shortage resulting from the explosion.

A Faurecia spokesman said the cause of the explosion was under investigation.
